Redwood Smoke Shack

Nearby University: Old Dominion University
Approximate distance from Old Dominion University: Less than 5 miles
Description:
Legit Texas barbecue in the heart of Norfolk’s Ghent neighborhood. Some of the best I’ve had anywhere, including in Texas, and definitely my favorite in the Tidewater region. The line can stretch out the door but the wait is worth it; come early-ish before popular items like brisket sell out. All the sides are amazing, but my favorites are cilantro slaw, mac & cheese, and smoked turkey collard greens. Other locations include Suffolk, VA and Virginia Beach.
If you could only eat one item on the menu:
The massive beef ribs, 1.5 to 2.5 lbs each, served Saturdays only from opening until sold out
